Larry Poons - Parkway Blues

Larry Poons is acclaimed for his inventive, quirky color work and his zeal for paint and surface. In this exhibition we present all new work by Poons. In these new pieces, Poons relies entirely on brushwork where before his process involved a range of technique from pouring paint to collage.

The results are dense, vibrant surfaces that sometimes take on an exhilarating scale. The finished works reflect the constant motion in his process: the paintings are optically alive.

Larry Poons dedicates this exhibition to Cezanne, Mondrian, Pollock, and Newman.

Born in Tokyo in 1937, Larry Poons has had over 60 shows worldwide. His work is in numerous public and private collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Tate Gallery, and the Whitney Museum of Art.
